Nov. 11--ACHIEVEMENTS: Tyler dentist Dr. Dennis Stansbury, a featured speaker at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in Lincoln, Neb., was honored with a visiting professorship following his discussion to the periodontal graduate students.
Dr. Stansbury spoke about the importance of treatment planning in difficult and routine implant cases. He has enjoyed a dental practice in Tyler for more than 30 years, with emphasis on smile enhancement and other restorative treatment.
--Nicole Hooper and Johnna Turner, Suddenlink employees in Tyler, received Hero Awards, recognizing exceptional efforts to serve customers.
In a company of 4,400 employees nationwide, they were two of 12 to receive the award for the third quarter. The award is based on nominations submitted by colleagues of Ms. Hooper, training coordinator for the Tyler East Call Center, and Ms. Turner, process improvement manager for the Tyler West Call Center.
--Trinity Mother Frances Sleep Disorders Center in Tyler received program accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the academy announced.
To receive the five-year accreditation, the center must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designated by the AASM. The process involves inspection of the facility and staff, including an evaluation of testing procedures, patient contacts and physician training.
--The American Angus Association announced Trey Arnold and Roach Cattle Co., both of Lindale, as new members.
Arnold is a junior member of the association. Junior members are eligible to register cattle in the association, participate in programs conducted by the National Junior Angus Association and participate in association-sponsored shows and other national and regional events.
The association has more than 36,000 active adult and junior members and is the largest beef cattle registry association in the world.
--East Texas native Jason C. Ellman was selected by Business Week as one of the "Top 25 Young Entrepreneurs for 2007." The publication is taking votes for the top five, Ellman said.
Ellman and Tyler Barnett co-founded Barnett Ellman, a public relations and marketing firm in Los Angeles.
Ellman lived in Overton and Longview, graduating from Hallsville High School. He is a 2005 graduate of Pepperdine University.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Trinity Clinic physicians Drs. Shane Hamon, Michael P. Haney and Wayne Murphy Jr. received board certification in anesthesiology from the American Board of Anesthesiology, the clinic announced.
Dr. Haney received his medical degree from The University of Texas School of Medicine in San Antonio. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Hamon received his medical degree and completed his residency at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Dr. Murphy earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. He completed his residency at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he was chief resident.
NEW BUSINESSES: Break Time Billiards opened at Farm-to-Market Roads 14 and 16 in Red Springs, Brian Werner, and owner, announced. A Noble Roman's Pizza franchise also opened in conjunction with the pool hall. It is an all-ages facility with wireless Internet and an outdoor patio. It is also available for rent for private events. A grand-opening celebration is planned for this month.
--Owners Shane and Julie Rothrock announced they opened The Computer Doctor at 4609 Troup Highway. The store features computer repair, sales and service.
Future plans include offering parts, remote connect service, Web design service and lessons for computing.
NEW MEMBERS: The Tyler Area Builders Association welcomed new members in October. They are builder members Barrett Homes/Bud Barrett and Carlton Edwards Builder & Design/Carlton Edwards; and associate members Bank Texas/Jacob Russo, city of Lindale inspection department/Charles West, Gabriel Jordan Fleet/Randy Clark, K&S Insulation/Newt Surber, Pauline's Buffet/Bob Wickham, RE/MAX Tyler/Jacquelyn Moose, TD Fitness Outlet/Donna Trevino.
PLANNER: On Monday Julie Chance, president of Strategies-By-Design, a Dallas consulting firm, will be the guest speaker at the Tyler/East Texas chapter of the eWomenNetwork, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Select hotel in Tyler. --Thursday The Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce will have Business After Hours, a social and networking opportunity for business people, 5-7 p.m. at Aviano restaurant in the old Tyler Pounds Regional Airport terminal, 150 Airport Drive. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
--On Nov. 28 the Tyler chamber will have a quarterly membership luncheon with guest speaker Tyler Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Randy Reid, 11:30 a.m. at Willow Brook Country Club. Cost is $18 per person. To reserve a space, call 903-592-1661, extension 223.
